Flu and Tetanus (Tdap) Vaccines

Flu and tetanus vaccines in Houston, TX. Administered by medical staff in Spanish, no insurance needed.

We give the influenza (flu) vaccine and tetanus toxoid (Td/Tdap) without an appointment, to adults and children, every day from 9 AM to 9 PM. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud Lawndale we also review and complete the vaccines required for the I-693 immigration medical exam.

When should I get the flu vaccine?

Every year, ideally in September or October, before Houston's flu season starts, which runs from October to March. It is recommended from 6 months of age, and especially for adults over 65, pregnant women, people with diabetes, asthma or heart disease, and those who live with them. Protection takes about 2 weeks to develop.

How often do I need a tetanus shot?

A Td or Tdap booster every 10 years. If you have a dirty, deep or rusty-object wound and your last dose was more than 5 years ago, you need a booster the same day. Tdap includes whooping cough protection and is recommended during every pregnancy, between weeks 27 and 36.

Which vaccines does USCIS require for the I-693?

By age: MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap or Td, varicella, hepatitis B, seasonal flu, polio and, for children, the pediatric schedule. The COVID-19 vaccine is no longer required since January 20, 2025. Bring your vaccination card in any language: if you have a record of a dose, we don't repeat it.

What should I bring?

  • Photo ID
  • Vaccination card or ImmTrac2 record, if you have one
  • List of allergies and medications

What are the side effects?

Arm soreness or redness for 1 to 2 days, mild tiredness and sometimes a low fever. You cannot get the flu from the injectable vaccine. We don't give it if you have a fever that day or a confirmed severe allergy to a previous dose.

How much do vaccines cost?

Each vaccine is priced individually, including administration and dose registration. Ask for the price when you arrive or call us at (832) 530-4188: direct payment by cash or card, no insurance needed.
