Contraceptive Implant Removal in Houston | Walk-In Clinic

Subdermal implant removal in Houston, TX, a safe procedure in Spanish. No insurance needed.

We remove the contraceptive implant (Nexplanon or similar) in a visit of about 20 minutes, with local anesthesia and no appointment. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud Lawndale it is done by medical staff, in Spanish or English, Monday to Sunday from 9 AM to 9 PM.

When should the implant be removed?

Nexplanon is approved for 3 years; after that it no longer protects and must be removed or replaced. It is also removed earlier if you want to get pregnant, if you have irregular bleeding you cannot tolerate, or on medical advice. You can become pregnant as early as the first week after removal.

How is the procedure done?

  1. We locate the implant by feeling the inner side of the arm. If it cannot be felt, we refer you for an ultrasound before attempting removal.
  2. We apply local anesthesia to the area.
  3. We make a 2 to 3 millimeter incision and pull the implant out with forceps.
  4. We close with sterile adhesive strips and apply a pressure bandage.

Stitches are not needed in most cases. The procedure takes 10 to 20 minutes and you walk out.

What should I bring?

  • Photo ID
  • The implant card or insertion date, if you have it
  • List of medications, especially blood thinners

How do I care for the arm afterwards?

Keep the pressure bandage on for 24 hours and the sterile strips for 3 to 5 days. A bruise and mild soreness for a week are normal. Come in if there is bleeding that does not stop, pus, fever or spreading redness.

Can I get a new one the same day?

Yes, if you want to continue with the same method, we can place a new implant through the same incision. If you prefer another method, we discuss pills, the shot or an IUD during the same visit.

How much does implant removal cost?

Removal includes the visit, anesthesia and supplies. Ask for the price when you arrive or call us at (832) 530-4188: direct payment by cash or card, no insurance needed.
