Abscess Drainage in Houston | Walk-In, No Insurance Needed

Abscess drainage in Houston, TX. Treatment of skin infections in Spanish, no insurance needed.

We drain skin abscesses (boils, infected cysts) under local anesthesia in a 20 to 30 minute walk-in visit, and you leave with the pain relieved. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud Lawndale we see you Monday to Sunday from 9 AM to 9 PM, in Spanish or English and without insurance.

How do I know it's an abscess?

A red, warm, painful lump that feels soft or fluid-filled in the center, sometimes with a white or yellow point. It is common in the armpits, buttocks, groin, back and inner thighs. If there is only hard redness without fluid (cellulitis), it is treated with antibiotics and not drained yet.

Why shouldn't I pop it at home?

Squeezing pushes the infection into deeper tissue and the bloodstream, and leaves a worse scar. Antibiotics alone don't cure it either: the trapped pus needs to come out. Medical drainage through a clean incision is the right treatment.

How is it done?

  1. We clean the area and apply local anesthesia.
  2. We make a small incision and drain the pus completely.
  3. We rinse the cavity with saline and, if it is large, leave gauze packing for 1 to 2 days so it keeps draining.
  4. We cover it with a dressing and, if there are signs of spreading infection, fever or diabetes, prescribe antibiotics.
  5. Follow-up at 48 hours to remove the packing and check healing.

When should I come in right away?

Fever, chills, redness spreading quickly, an abscess on the face near the nose or eyes, or if you have diabetes or a weakened immune system. In those cases don't wait for it to "ripen".

How do I care for it at home?

Warm compresses for 15 minutes, 3 times a day, to help drainage; change the dressing daily; wash your hands before and after; don't share towels or razors. The abscess usually closes in 1 to 2 weeks.

How much does abscess drainage cost?

Drainage includes anesthesia, supplies and the follow-up check. Ask for the price when you arrive or call us at (832) 530-4188: direct payment by cash or card, no insurance needed.
