We treat allergic rhinitis, skin allergies and mild reactions to foods or insect bites, without an appointment and in Spanish or English. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud Lawndale we identify what triggers your symptoms and give you a treatment to control them, Monday to Sunday from 9 AM to 9 PM.

How do I know if it's an allergy or a cold?

Allergies cause bursts of sneezing, itching in the nose, eyes and roof of the mouth, watery eyes and congestion that lasts weeks, without fever. A cold lasts 7 to 10 days and may cause fever and body aches. In Houston, pollen peaks run February to May (oak) and September to November (ragweed); if your symptoms match those dates, it is almost certainly an allergy.

Which allergies do we treat?

• Allergic rhinitis: from pollen, dust, dust mites, mold or pets.
• Skin allergies: hives, contact dermatitis and eczema.
• Mild reactions to foods, medications or insect bites.
• Mild allergic asthma: coordinated with respiratory illness care.

Severe reactions with difficulty breathing, swelling of the lips or tongue, or dizziness are an emergency: call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Do you do allergy testing?

We offer blood tests for specific IgE against the most common Houston allergens; ask us about the available panel. We do not perform skin prick tests; if you need them, we refer you to an allergist.

What is the treatment?

1. Avoid the trigger: we give you a practical list based on your allergy.
2. Second-generation antihistamines that don't cause drowsiness.
3. Steroid nasal spray for persistent congestion.
4. Creams or antihistamines for the skin.
5. Referral for immunotherapy (allergy shots) when symptoms are not controlled.
