Birth Control in Houston: Pills, Shot & Implant | Walk-In

We help you choose and start your birth control the same day: pills, the 3-month shot, patch, ring or implant, with a visit in Spanish or English and no insurance needed. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud Lawndale we see you without an appointment, Monday to Sunday from 9 AM to 9 PM, with privacy.

Which methods do we offer?

No hormonal method protects against sexually transmitted infections; for that, use condoms.

How do we choose the method?

At the visit we check your blood pressure, whether you smoke, your age, migraines, history of blood clots and whether you are breastfeeding. For example, combined pills are not recommended if you smoke and are over 35 or have migraine with aura; in those cases the minipill, the shot or the implant are safer.

When does it start working?

If you start pills, the patch or the ring within the first 5 days of your period, they protect right away; if you start on another day, use condoms for 7 days. The shot protects from day one if given within the first 7 days of your period. The implant protects after 24 hours under the same conditions.

What does the visit include?

1. Visit and a pregnancy test if there is any doubt.
2. Blood pressure check and review of contraindications.
3. The shot or implant placed at the same visit, or a prescription for pills, patch or ring.
4. Follow-up at 3 months and refills without a full visit.

How much does birth control cost?

The visit, the 3-month shot and the implant are priced individually. Pills are bought at a pharmacy with our prescription; we point you to the cheapest generics. Ask for the price when you arrive or call us at (832) 530-4188: direct payment by cash or card, no insurance needed.
