Wound Care in Houston | Cleaning & Dressing, Walk-In Clinic

Wound care in Houston, TX. Cleaning and dressings in Spanish, no insurance needed.

We clean, disinfect and dress wounds, minor burns and ulcers, and do follow-up dressing changes until they close. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud Lawndale we see you without an appointment, every day from 9 AM to 9 PM, in Spanish or English and without insurance.

Which wounds do we treat?

  • Cuts and scrapes that don't need stitches, or after stitching
  • Post-surgical wounds that need dressing changes
  • First-degree burns and small second-degree burns (smaller than the palm of the hand)
  • Diabetic foot ulcers and early-stage pressure ulcers
  • Infected wounds that need cleaning and antibiotics

Large burns, deep wounds with bleeding that won't stop, or wounds on the face or joints with loss of movement belong in the emergency room.

What does wound care involve?

  1. We remove the old dressing and assess size, depth and signs of infection.
  2. We clean with saline and remove dead tissue if present.
  3. We apply the right dressing: hydrocolloid, alginate, antibiotic gauze or a simple bandage, depending on the wound.
  4. You get written instructions and the date of the next dressing change, usually every 2 to 3 days.

Do I need a tetanus shot?

Yes, if your last dose was more than 10 years ago, or more than 5 years ago and the wound is dirty or was caused by a rusty object. We give it during the same visit.

How do I care for the wound at home?

Wash your hands before touching it, keep the dressing clean and dry, don't put alcohol or hydrogen peroxide directly on the wound because they slow healing, and don't pop burn blisters. If you have diabetes, check your feet every day.

When should I come back early?

If there is pus, a bad smell, redness spreading more than 2 centimeters from the edge, fever, or if the wound is not improving after 7 days.

How much does it cost?

The first visit with evaluation and follow-up dressing changes are priced individually; supplies are included. Ask for the price when you arrive or call us at (832) 530-4188: direct payment by cash or card, no insurance needed.
