We perform abdominal, pelvic, pregnancy, thyroid and soft-tissue ultrasounds in the clinic, without an appointment and with a report explained in Spanish or English. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud Lawndale the study is done Monday to Sunday from 9 AM to 9 PM; call ahead to confirm the sonographer is available that day.

Which ultrasounds do we do?

Abdominal: liver, gallbladder and stones, pancreas, kidneys and spleen. For abdominal pain, fatty liver or stones.
Pelvic and transvaginal: uterus and ovaries, for irregular bleeding, pelvic pain, cysts or fibroids.
Obstetric: pregnancy confirmation from 6 weeks, heartbeat, gestational age and follow-up.
Thyroid: nodules and gland enlargement.
Soft tissue and renal: lumps, lipomas, cysts and urinary tract.

We do not perform echocardiograms or vascular Doppler; we refer you when they are needed.

How do I prepare?

Abdominal: fast 6 to 8 hours so the gallbladder is visible.
Pelvic through the abdomen: full bladder; drink 1 liter of water an hour before and do not urinate.
Transvaginal, thyroid and soft tissue: no preparation.
Obstetric: in the first weeks, full bladder; later it is not needed.

Bring your ID and, if you have them, previous studies for comparison.

How long does it take and when do I get the result?

The study takes 15 to 30 minutes. The report with images is delivered as soon as the doctor reviews it, and the findings are explained at a visit. If something needs follow-up, we tell you the next step or refer you to a specialist.

Is ultrasound safe?

Yes. It uses sound waves, not radiation, so it is safe in pregnancy and can be repeated as often as needed.
